"There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it." 1 Corinthians 10:13
Feeling like she was at the end of her rope, the young woman dropped to her knees and prayed; "Lord, I can't go on, my cross is too heavy to bear."
Within a moment, she heard the voice of the Lord saying; "If you can't bear the weight of your cross, my daughter, then place it here. Now open this door and pick out any cross you wish." Filled with relief, the woman said, "Thank you Lord," and did as she was told.
Upon opening the door, she saw many crosses! Some were so large that the tops couldn't be seen. Then she spotted a tiny cross leaning against the far wall. "I'd like that one, Lord, she whispered."
In the quiet of the room, the woman heard the Lord reply, "My daughter, that is the cross you brought in."
How easy is it to look at others and think that everything is rosy and bright, but our circumstances seem so dark and gloomy. The grass may be greener on the other side of the fence, but at the same time, it still has to be mowed.
The Bible challenges us not to think that we are the only ones who face tests and trials. They come to others as well. There is encouragement in knowing that God is always present to help us through anything. If we allow Him, He will show us the way out!
When life's problems seem to be overwhelming; look around, and see what others are coping with. We may consider ourselves fortunate.
