Lloyd Conway
Morse, Jr. was born to Agnes Rose Mays Morse and the late Lloyd Conway Morse,
Sr. on May 16, 1951.
As a child he was an active member of Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ, participating in their Boy Scout Troop and attaining the distinction of Eagle Scout. At age 14 he became one of the youngest presidents of the Junior Ushers of the National United Church Ushers Association of America. He continued his service to the church as an usher, serving as president of the Junior Ushers for twenty-five years and the Senior Ushers for ten years.
Lloyd attended Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and continued his studies at the Baltimore Junior College (now BCCC). He met and married Bridgett R. Smith on July 17, 1976 and from this union came one daughter, Shani Aisha Morse.
In 1973, Lloyd was one of the first male telephone operators employed by C& P Telephone Company (now Verizon). He held various positions within the company and was promoted to a Benefits Supervisor position before his retirement in 2000.
Lloyd enjoyed being an usher, listening to gospel music and attending family gatherings in Virginia. Lloyd loved to tell jokes to make people laugh and he had a way of making himself known wherever he went. He had a beautiful bass voice and sang with the Salvation Choral Ensemble, the Junior College Choir and the Garnett Male Chorus at his church. Before his illness he was a very active member if the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Maryland, Inc., Baltimore Unit, where he served as President and Parliamentarian. Lloyd was very well versed in all the rules that governed any organization. During a meeting you could always count on the voice of Lloyd coming forth with a resounding "Mr. Madam Chairperson, point of order". Then he would move forward to set the record straight. However frustrating those words could sometimes be, Lloyd was always on point. He was an active member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Sigma Chapter, and the New Bethlehem Lodge #11 affiliate of the Most Worshipful Hiram Grand Lodge, State of Maryland. He always worked hard to be more than just a member of any organization, usually holding positions at the State and National levels.
Lloyd was a great teacher and motivator, always willing to share his knowledge. If you were willing to learn, he was willing to teach. He will always be remembered with love and devotion.
