Whether you are a devout Christian or a non believer, no matter what your faith, you have prayed. It may have been a prayer for finances, or perhaps for a wayward child, for your health to improve, or just for that quarter tank of gas to last until payday. No matter what the reason, at one time or another, we have all petitioned God for one reason or another.
Prayer is powerful. It can change circumstances and give you peace. It can heal a sin sick soul and it can win a war. It can ultimately bring the world to Christ. Prayers offered in faith and based on the Word of God by a person who has the right relationship with God will be answered by Him.
Unlike prayers to mankind, our petitions to God have never fallen on deaf ears. God hears all of our prayers. When Jesus prayed it was with the knowledge and expectation that His prayers would be heard. (John 11:41-42 KJV ....." Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. And I knew that thou hearest me always"….) This is how we should pray. We should pray knowing that God hears us and answers us as soon as we ask.
Yes, He answers as soon as we ask. I know that you may doubt this point at this very moment, but it is true. As soon as we ask God, He answers, but in His time are those answers revealed. We often get discouraged because we pray for something and do not see instantaneous results. Luke 18:1 (KJV) says that Jesus spake a parable unto His disciples "…that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;" It is through much prayer that a firm understanding of this concept finally took hold of me. We pray for what we want and what we need, thinking that we pray for things in the most logical order and the order of the things with the most urgency in our lives. For example: a new job, a new pair of shoes that you just have to have, that new man/woman that you just met, and the list just goes on and on. Well, as we are trying to figure it out, God already has it worked out. His plan has already been set in motion before we even knew there was a plan.
So, when we don't get that new job, and those shoes are not in our size, and that man/woman never calls you, etc., don't think that God didn't hear or is not going to answer. It's as simple as this. It is not your time. You see, the job that you wanted so bad was not the one for you. He has a better one in store for you, and those shoes would have hurt your feet and made them look too big anyway, and that man/woman would have dragged you through the mud, left you heartbroken, tore up and beat down. So what has really happened is that God has said in His subtle way that what I have for you is for you, when I want you to have it.
He knows, He hears and He answers, in His time, not our time.
"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." Mark 11:24 KJV
Prayer changes things let its power change you!
