During her time at the "Star", Cleo was a member of several church auxiliaries. As a child, she was a member of the Future Church Club under the leadership of Sisters Hattie Deshields, Mary Stewart, and Georgiana Gross. She was a junior usher led by Sister Hilda Reed, a member of the junior choir under the leadership of Sister Nora B Harris-Marner, and a member of the number 2 choir under the direction of Sis Ella May Scarlet and Bro Norman Muldrow. Later the number one and two choirs joined to become the Sanctuary choir. She was a member of the Junior Missionaries, the Young Matrons, and later The Missionary Society. Cleo was a Sunday school teacher in the primary department. She was a Girl Scout leader and also worked with "story hour' at the church. At one time, she was leader of the BYTU, Baptist Youth Training Union. The name was later shortened to the BTU Baptist Training Union. Cleo was also a member of the Affirmation of Faith choir.

One of her main interests has always been working with children. Her favorite color is purple. Cleo loves to read her bible; one of her favorite bible passages is "Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of Man cometh." Matthew 24: 42-44.

Cleo has many friends and enjoys visiting with them either in person or by way of the telephone when she is unable to get out. Her grandson Jonathan Duckett also attends Morning Star Baptist Church of Christ. Cleo jokingly said that she is like a windup toy once she starts talking but she stresses that she does not believe in gossip. She said that she spreads the "good news" everyplace she goes. She is a strong woman of God and a valued senior at the "Star".
