Reaching Out In Christian Love

In the days of the Old Testament, God's spirit dwelled in the temple, separated from man by a curtain. When Jesus died, that curtain was split in half. Then God sent His spirit to dwell in us, the new temple of God's spirit. God reached out to us in love by sending His Son. Jesus reached out to us in love by laying His life on the line for us. We, too, must reach out to others in Christian love.

Jesus stated in Matthew 5:17-18: "Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled." This insight unlocks a number of discoveries which otherwise would escape the notice of someone who takes the text less seriously. What insights are hidden in the numbering of the Tribes of Israel? In this brief article we'll review a remarkable perspective from a passage that most of us might skip over

Recently, there was a box given to me as a gift. Inside of this box, I found several items and each item had a passage and a scripture attached. The box was called "A SURVIVAL KIT", the contents of the box were: Button: "Button your lips" to keep from saying unkind things about others or talking when it is not appropriate. Keep thy tongue from evil, and thy lips from speaking guile. Depart from evil, and do good; seek peace, and pursue it.

The Call Answered!

The clarion call has resulted in Rev. Angela M. Nelson preaching her initial sermon this past November 2008. Her message entitled "Don't Kill the Messenger" was prophetic! It was wonderful and preached like a seasoned carrier of the good news of the Lord Jesus Christ. With her family including her parents in attendance of that service the Holy Ghost was truly present as she delivered this timely message.

Friends

FRIENDS are something we all have. Some of us have a lot and some a little. There some friends who are closer to us than others. There are friends we talk with at lunch, some we go over homework with and some we ride the bus home together with. When I think about friends, I think about one of the books in the Bible, Ruth. The book of Ruth tells about a really good friendship between Ruth and her mother-in-law, Naomi.

We Can Talk A Good Game, But Can We Win?

As youth in today's society, where do we stand as Christians? Are we living the way God wants us to? Are the ways of the world making it so that we can not stand up for what we believe in? [Ezekiel 44:6-9] We have profaned amidst other things we have mixed our heathen ways and we made God second. The bible tells us that as Christians our walk is harder, and our cry is stronger. But what about those who walk the walk and talk the talk? They are like toy soldiers.

In Remembrance of Deacon William S. Riddick, Sr.

Deacon Riddick loved God, his family, Pastor Ray and Morning Star. He was regular in church attendance, attentive to disbursements and receipts and strove to do all he could for the up building of God's Kingdom here on earth. We pay tribute to one who lived a busy, useful, unselfish life; never seeking ease or personal honor. His loyalty to the church was inspirational and we give thanks to God for Deacon Riddick's life among us.
